Gary Jo Owen x4

Local derby time for Caergybi today at Millbank playing Valley FC in the Car Boot Cup, the game kicked off at 2pm in good weather.
An early ankle injury to Caergybi goalie Kieran Weeks in the opening minutes brought the game to a stop while he received treatment. Under pressure from Valley the opening goal was given as an own goal by Kieran Weeks on 15 minutes to put Valley in the lead. Shortly after a free-kick taken by captain Dewi Thomas levelled the score 1-1. Valley threatened to score again minutes later but after a goal mouth scramble the ball was cleared safely. It was Caergybi’s turn to threaten goal shortly after with Liam Williams on his debut beating the Valley goalie but an amazing bit of defence work from the Valley captain turned the shot out for a corner. A good effort from Konner Druce was tipped over the bar by the Valley goalie on 40 minutes. Caergybi travelled to Bangor today to play Arriva in the Dargie Cup with a 1.30pm kick off. Conditions were damp but Arriva had worked hard to get the pitch playable at Beach Road and all good to go.

Not long after, the Arriva goalie Dion Williams made and excellent save to deny a good attempt from Konner Druce. It was just after half hour played when a long ball from Dafydd Edwards gave Gary Jo Owen the chance to strike and make it 0-2 to Caergybi.
Early in the second half Arriva managed to push forward more but the Caergybi defence managed to keep any threats out, some chances to kill the game early were missed by Caergybi with Arriva goalie Dion Williams playing well, it was 77 minutes before a long run down the right and goal from Luke McKittrick gave the visitors a 3-goal cushion. On 25 minutes Elliot Patterson took a free-kick from the half way line which was met with a back header from Gary Jo Owen and into the back of the net to open the score 1-0. Two minutes later a bit of a fumble from Arriva goalie Sam Williams gave Konner Druce his chance to hit goal, score 2-0. Goals for Valley – Justin Williams, George Hibbert
Goals for Caergybi – Elliot Patterson x2, Konner Druce, Gary Jo Owen

The only Anglesey League match this weekend saw Caergybi away to Valley FC, two top of the table teams up against each other and it met up with expectations of being an exciting game.
Early chances in the first 15 minutes from Caergybi free-kicks and Valley corners came to nothing, but then a free-kick awarded to Caergybi well taken by Elliot Patterson put the visitors in front 0-1 on 17 minutes.
Ten minutes later, a well-timed flick pass from Gary Jo Owen on his debut for Caergybi left Konner Druce with the chance to score past Valley goalkeeper Justin Hughes, 0-2 to Caergybi.
On 28 minutes Justin Williams broke through the Caergybi defence to score and keep Valley in the game at 1-2.
Four minutes later, Elliot Patterson smashed a volley from distance into the back of the net to leave the score at half time 1-3 to Caergybi.
Early in the second half chances from Gary Jo and Elliot Patterson were denied by the Valley goalkeeper to keep the game alive. Valley went down to 10 men soon after following a red card offence.
On the hour mark, Konner Druce was brought down in the box just as he was about to shoot, penalty awarded, taken by Gary Jo Owen to put Caergybi in the lead 1-4.
Despite this score mid-way through the second half it was far from a one-sided game and Valley always looked dangerous in front of goal. The high energy game had Caergybi using all 3 subs later on (skipper Dewi Thomas replaced by Gareth Smith, Glenn North replaced by Jack Roberts and Luke McKittrick replaced by Kurt Harris).
Valley continued to press hard and number 6 George Hibbert made it 2-4 with a well taken goal. A brilliant save by Kieran Weeks tipping a shot onto the bar and out for a corner 5 minutes from time was the final highlight of an exciting game played in good spirit by both teams.
Caergybi named their man of the match as Ashley Beck for some brilliant midfield work throughout the game, also a great debut for Gary Jo Owen.

Minutes later Ashley Beck crossed from by the right-hand corner flag which was met by a Konner Druce header at height to open the score at 0-1 for Caergybi. On 35 minutes, a penalty was awarded to Bodorgan, Luke Holloway playing number 10 and man of the match for Bodorgan took the pen to level the score at 1-1.
The teams went into the half-time break level with Caergybi realising they maybe had overplayed the ball in the Bodorgan half and not created enough chances.
The deadlock was broken by an outstanding strike from defender Colm Foley who worked his way into the Bodorgan half about 40 yards from goal and struck a sweet volley into the top left-hand corner of goal about 10 minutes into the second half to put the visitors in the lead 1-2. Caergybi manager Dale Moffat then decided to make some changes bringing new signing Glenn North and Dafydd Edwards on to replace Ashley Beck and Kieran Murphy.
On about the hour mark, a long throw in from Scott Pettersen was met with another Konner Druce header to put Caergybi in the lead 1-3. Jack Roberts who had been busy with many runs was replaced late on by Elliot Patterson. Another long throw by Scott Pettersen was headed into goal by Glenn North on his debut for Caergybi to leave the final score at 1-4 to the visitors.
The match was played in good spirit with only one caution given, Caergybi had good control of the game for the most part with man of the match Dewi Thomas, Mike Murphy and Luke McKittrick in midfield. Bodorgan were dangerous at times on the break. Good luck to Bodorgan for the rest of the season and thanks for hosting this cup game.

Llangoed Reserves 3 Caergybi 2

Goals for Caergybi - Kurt Harris, Dewi Thomas
Goals for Llangoed - Matty Owen, Arwyn Morris, Wayne Thomas

With the Talysarn Celts v Llangoed match postponed we were expecting to face a different Llangoed Reserves side who now had many first team players available but our first team players were well up for the challenge knowing it would be a different game to our 10-3 victory from our last meet at Caergybi.
Caergybi had 2 good chances in the first 10 minutes from well taken free kicks by Dewi Thomas that were well defended by Llangoed. Caergybi first to score on 35 minutes from a Kurt Harris volley. Moments later a free kick from Dewi Thomas had Konner Druce looping a header into the Llangoed goal, it was ruled offside due to another player infringing. Llangoed levelled the score from a great free kick by Matty Owen on 42 minutes. Half time score 1-1.
Just as the second half started an unlucky defensive/goalkeeping slip led to Arwyn Thomas scoring to put Llangoed in the lead 2-1. Llangoed worked hard to protect this lead until Dewi Thomas rifled in a powerful volley from an assist by Ashley Beck on his debut that left the Llangoed goalkeeper no chance and levelled the score 2-2 with just over 15 minutes left, motivated by this equalizer Caergybi pushed hard for the winner but it was not to be as the Llangoed keeper Lee Heywood made some amazing saves to deny attempts from Gareth Smith, Dewi Thomas and Konner Druce. Wayne Thomas scored for the home side to leave the final score at 3-2 to Llangoed.
The game was played in good spirit by both sides and some of the best play from Caergybi so far this season but regrettably too many chances were not taken.
Many thanks to Llangoed for their hospitality and good luck for the season.

Mynydd Tigers 2 Caergybi 1

Goal for Caergybi - Konner Druce
Goals for Mynydd Tigers - Herbie Hofsteede, Mike Williams

On 15 minutes Herbie Hofsteede scored a breakaway goal to put Tigers 1-0 up, minutes later Konner Druce weaved through Tigers defence and goalie to pass the ball into the net and level the score 1-1. It looked like Konner Druce was going to make it 2-1 to the visitors not long after but the offside flag denied a great goalscoring chance. Jack Roberts had to be replaced due to an injury on 36 minutes. Just as it seemed the teams were going into half time level, Mynydd Tigers captain Mike Williams headed goal just inside the right hand post from a corner kick.
Both teams battled hard in the second half, Tigers dug in to protect their lead and Caergybi pushed hard to come away with a result, frustrating for the Caergybi players who knew they were capable of a better performance.

Caergybi goalie Jamie Keily denied a good attempt just before half time, minutes later Jack Roberts scored Caergybi's second goal to put the home side in front 2-1 at half time.
Caergybi man of the match Konner Druce narrowly missed goal with a header just going over the bar, but on 53 minutes scored Caergybi's third goal. Konner was denied a goal soon after due to a great save from the Pentraeth goalie. Luke Mckittrick unlucky not to score as his shot hit the post with a great strike on the hour mark. Pentraeth's Jack Diamond came close to scoring but his effort bounced off the bar with about 70 minutes gone. Started the game the better team but missed some clear cut chances early on which would of killed the game. Got caught out with a bit of quick play from a throw in and conceded after 15 minutes. Lost our heads a bit and got involved in a scrappy game, after half time came out a different team, pinning them back in their own half and had a number of opportunities to score, Jack Roberts coming close heading onto the bar. Dewi Thomas was brought down in the area, gets up and calmly converts the penalty. From then on we had full control of the game, Dewi Thomas got on the end of a quick throw in from Scott Pettersen to put us 2-1 up before Elliot Patterson picked the ball up and hit on the outside of his foot from the edge of the box straight into the far side of goal, great finish made it 3-1 but could have been more.
