Caergybi 5-2 Glantraeth (friendly)

Goalscorers:
Mike Eddie x1
Craig Moore x2
Louis Chapman x2

We welcomed Glantraeth to Millbank today for another friendly.
We got off to a great start with Mike Eddie scoring a lovely free kick from 25 yards in the top corner then Glantraeth hit back with a great strike from the edge of the box from their striker, we regained the lead with a penalty from Craig Moore, Glantraeth leveled again with lovely play down the right good cross and nice finish to make it 2-2 half time.
Second half we got in front again with another penalty scored by Louis Chapman and we went on from there with a good finish by Moore again to make it 4-2, Louis Chapman got his second and Caergybi fifth with a composed finish to make it 5-2.
A good battle from both teams, thank you Glantraeth and all the best for the coming season ⚫️⚪⚫️

Menai Bridge Tigers 5-1 Caergybi

Good game against a good Menai Tigers team!
Great fitness for the lads, most important thing at the moment 90mins for the players and getting back to it.
Always going to be tough after a game two days ago but they will benefit from it come start of the season.
All the best to Menai for the season, great hosts as always.

Saturday 22 May 2021

Caergybi 4-2 Gaerwen (Friendly Training Match)

Goalscorers:
Louis Chapman x2
Jerome Sillence x2

A really good performance from the lads today!
From the kick off we dominated possesion and commanded the middle playing some great football at times!
Gaerwen did well with the counter attack and nearly caught us a few times.
We finally got the break through when Gaerwen keeper played a pass short and Louis latched onto it and put in the back of the net.
Shortly after we went 2-0 up with a fine finish from Louis again
A mistake in the back during a corner gifted them a goal.
Half time 2-1.

Second half we made 7 changes and started very well commanding again and Jerome fresh on didn’t take long to get himself on the score sheet,
not long after Jerome going down the left cut in and got brought down he got up and took the penalty to make it 4-1.
Lack of concentration then for the last 20 mins let them get back into for a while,
silly fouls cost us and a silly one edge of the box let them work it well and get another.
Thank you to Gaerwen for the game and all the best for the season.

Caergybi 0-2 Bodedern Athletic (Friendly Training Match)

Today we had our first friendly for a long while against a very impressive club CPD Bodedern Athletic, it was a very intense game we had to take alot of pressure but we did well to hold our own with some really good play from both sides to get to half time at 0-0.

The second half started the same, cancelling each other out, but Boded got the breakthrough with a fabulous ball to break the dead-lock and not long after that they struck again with a slip from a Caergybi defender to let them through one on one with the keeper to make it 2-0, but more importantly both teams conducted themselves in the right manner and it was nice to have local football back.

Sunday 09 May 2021

Played an Intra Club friendly match today, kicking off just after 11.30am on a windy but dry Sunday. The lads split into 2 teams, Caergybi Reds and Caergybi Black/Whites, making use of both kits. After such a long time since playing a match, the players worked hard but completed the full 90 minutes. Final score was 6-6, great to get back playing again, next Saturday we host CPD Bodedern Athletic from the league above ours and we're expecting a tough challenge.

Sport Thought Interviews Dale about new signings Tom Scott and Mike Edwards

Tom Scott

Mike Edwards

After signing striker Craig 'Midge' Moore, Caergybi FC have pulled off two more major transfers in former Holyhead Hotspur duo Tom Scott and Michael Edwards.
Two players with bags of quality and experience adding to Dale's already talented squad, the Holyhead based side will be hoping for a season fighting for the league.
Tom Scott joins after having a successful time as Holyhead Hotspur Reserves manager which included a Megan Cup trophy. Whilst Michael Edwards is a former Hotspur player that played a major role in Hotspurs treble winning season.

We spoke exclusively to Tom, Michael and Dale on their excitement of working together at Caergybi:
Tom: "It feels strange to be talking about joining another club after so many years with Hotspur but I’m very very excited and appreciative to be given a chance by Dale and join the current group they’ve got."
"I’ve always been impressed at how well organised Dale is and the clubs success and progress in the last few years. It’s a really well run club first and foremost.
The chance to play with my friends was a big factor, as well as the proximity of Millbank to where I live. Dale’s building a fantastic side here and I’m excited to play bring my experience to help us push for success in every competition and win some more silverware at this stage of career."
"Dale is also a very good manager, from what I’ve seen he understands players and is building a great side which I’m excited to be part of. He’s always been great after games win lose or draw and I think that speaks volumes of the person he is. He really made me feel like he wanted me to sign and that was a big factor in the decision."
"I’m going to enjoy less responsibility and focus on playing which for me will be refreshing. But I’ll help Dale and his team however I can. The ambition is to Win and help Cybi progress as far as we can."

Michael: "I can’t wait to get playing again. Was a hard decision to leave reserves last year but I feel Caergybi going in the right direction to challenge for trophies." "Got a lot of respect for Dale for what he’s done with Caergybi, not many teams survive these days with all the funding needed to play but he’s done a quality job and he’s built a good team. I grew up with the likes of Marcus, Tom and Jason so will be good to be playing with them again."

Manager Dale spoke of his delight, having made his second and third major signing in as many weeks saying:
"We are delighted to secure fantastic signings, both will bring a wealth of experience to the team, both are very well known and are true leaders on the pitch with both playing at a higher level, it is a real boost to the whole squad.
With us being able to sign players of there quality it really does show how much we have improved to get them in. There is a real buzz around the squad now and we can’t wait to get going." "Tom has been a great player and coach and this will be a massive boost to myself and James, as he can help us both on and off the pitch."
"Mike is a quality player who has been around for many years playing in defence or midfield, he will be a real great addition and will the younger players in our squad to learn from him as well as Tom."

Caergybi FC have tonight announced the signing of 29-year-old goalscoring ace Craig 'Midge' Moore.

With successful spells at Treaddur Bay, Bryngwran Bulls and Hotspur Reserves. This is a massive coup for the Holyhead based club and one Dale Moffat hopes provides them with the firepower to challenge at the top.

In Craig Moore, Caergybi FC are bringing in a proven goalscorer, who boasts a record of 67 goals in one season
as well as a winner of the Welsh Alliance Division 1. In an exclusive interview with Sport Thought, Craig Moore said:
"I'm really looking forward to it, they are a well run team with quality players.
To be honest I’m just looking forward to getting back playing, it’s been too long but obviously for the right reasons.
The challenge will be getting back to match fitness." Dale's proven himself to be a top manager and I can’t wait to get started.
The ambition has to be to win everything possible to be honest."

Caergybi FC manager spoke of his delight with the signing saying:
"We are absolutely delighted to get a player of Craig’s ability to join up for the coming season,
he is a player we know very well having scored against us many times!
A very fast and skilful player who is a real handful for most defences.
He has been prolific in every club he’s been at and is a real goal threat,
so we hope he continues this with us.
We are also looking forward to him linking up with Tom Hadley and Louis Chapman for the upcoming season and can’t wait to get going again."
"Our plans for this season is to try and challenge towards the top and do as well as possible in the cups.
We are also hoping to bring in a few more players to boost the squad even further and help us to achieve our ambitions."

Pwllheli Reserves 4 Caergybi 1 (Friendly Training)

Goal scorer: Mark Hamblin

Made the long trip down to Pwllheli for a tough game yesterday!
Was going to be tough from the start with us not having our keeper available after an injury picked up midweek so Jake Chapman stood up and went in between the sticks for us the young 16 year old who normally plays cm did a great job and played with some great confidence even managing to save a penalty 👏👏.

We started the game well going ahead in the first 10 mins when Dave Webb got brought down in the box and Mark Hamblin scoring the penalty making it 6 goals in 5 games for the center midfielder we continued to get the chances! But we then let them in and get into a rhythm and mad it hard for ourselves and lost our shape and they capitalised just before half time.

Second half seen them make many changes and that changed the game with us having a few players get injuries and having to shuffle the team so lots were out of position it was very hard for us to get going and seen the home team dominate the second half but we still had plenty of opportunities to get back in but didn’t test the keeper enough.

Thank you to Pwllheli for the game brilliant team fair play and hopefully have another game soon.

28 November 2020

Caergybi Goalscorers: Louis Chapman, Leeroy Parry, Mark Hamblin, Mason Hughes.

Our first inter club friendly today following Covid guidelines, great to welcome Holyhead Hotspur Reserves to our Millbank pitch although the weather was not too good on a damp Saturday. The match was a good close battle, good to see what all the new lads were like and get off the rust, played some good football at times but you could see we haven’t played for a while but it will come back, first touches fitness etc, but just glad to get minutes for the lads, a whole new team so will take time to gel but very happy with first look well done lads!

Goalscorers: Caergybi 2 (Marcus Bell, Mark Hamblin)

⚫️⚪️Signing news: Tom Hadley signs ⚫️⚪️

We are delighted to announce that Tom Hadley has signed for Caergybi FC for the upcoming season ( when we can start). Tom is a player we have chased for many years, as most people know he is a proven goal scorer where ever he has been and we are delighted after many years of trying we have finally got him to come over and join us! He will add so much quality to our squad and help the younger strikers in the club, although being young himself. We are sure he will add so many goals to our team and help us push this league when it starts.
Welcome to the club Tom

6 October 2020

Our manager Dale Moffat was recently interviewed by Grassroots North Wales about the coming season:

Grassroots North Wales:
Overall, what shape are you in as a first team and club ahead of the 2020-21 season?

Dale:
As a club we are looking very strong for the season ahead. We have made a lot of quality signings this year and the squad looks strong. Last season was very difficult for us as we lost a lot of players to other teams, so we were a very small squad and didn’t have subs some weeks, so this year we are delighted to get back to full strength.

Grassroots North Wales:
You’ve made a few signings, please tell us about one or two of your players to look out for this

Dale:
Getting George Hibbert back was a massive boost for us. He was quality in his first season here and was ever-present in helping us win the Dargie Cup and Lucas Oil Cup and secure runners-up in the league. We have also added some youngsters. Louis Chapman looks like he will be a very good player. The young striker has really impressed during training and we can’t wait to see him in a game when we can. We have many more who have come in and all could have a write up and deserve a mention; lots of young players who look very good.

Grassroots North Wales:
Who do you see as the strongest teams in your division?

Dale:
Obviously lots of very good teams in the division so it will be a tough league. Cemaes Bay and Llannerchymedd are looking very strong. Lots of teams will challenge for the top spots I feel.

Grassroots North Wales:
How difficult has it been to keep your squad motivated during the Covid-19 crisis? What challenges have you had to overcome?

Dale:
It has been very hard to keep the lads motivated. They have loved training but as always they just want to play games and we keep getting different dates to start, but hopefully we can soon as they are itching to play.
Other obstacles include finance. It’s been hard during lockdown to raise funds for the team and hard to ask businesses to help when they have already lost so much, so that’s been difficult.

Grassroots North Wales:
What are your ambitions for the season ahead?

Dale:
Our ambitions are the same as every year – to try and win as many games as possible and get ourselves challenging for the league hopefully. And also to try to win a cup or two.
